Glitzy and Glamorous Debut Party

Girls, as they come of age, can be very creative and fashionable.  At the turn of 18, girls’ debut party themes like, fairy tale, butterflies, Disney princesses are a common sight. But the Chang twins, Alyanna and Alyssa of Cagayan de Oro City defied mediocrity as they planned and made one glitzy and glamorous debut party at the majestic Xavier Estates Clubhouse, CdO. Along with their parents, Mr. Nelson and Mrs. Gwendolyn Chang together with their brother Mark and sister Gwen, Ai-ai and An-an put up a “fashionista” themed party like no other last October 11, 2008.

As soon as the guests, dressed up to the nines, arrived at the clubhouse, they were greeted with a sumptuous buffet of drinks and hors d’voures at the foyer and were treated with a display of some of the award-winning entries of Davao’s fashion designers, Don Romero Mascarinas, Egay Ayag, Dodgie Batu, Popoy and Aztec Barba, to local and international avant garde competitions.

The debutantes’ entrance was really grand and well choreographed as they took off from a posh vehicle with spotlights on them as they join the rest of their partyphile-guests. After the twin’s father’s welcome address and their brother’s toast, all the guests were welcomed then with the photographers and videographers of Imagine Fotofun for some photo opportunity takes at the corridor leading to the grand ballroom of the clubhouse (ala Oscar Red Carpet Treatment).

You know that all the details were really thought of in making the components congruent with the theme. The Golden Touch Event planners put up at each table miniatured body-forms garbed with stylized dresses in the midst of candlelights and imported fresh-cutflowers. The ballroom really looked like a fashion gallery.

Food, drinks, messages, pictorials, video presentations, songs and dances were a bounty throughout the evening.

Messages from the 18 Candles; Gwen Chang, Cathlyn Gordiel, Donna Dumanlag, Kathleen Limbonhai, Thea Tan, Jolly Ong, Leony Sobrevega, Jasmin Baslot, Jay FlorenceDalucanog, Jen Tan, Alexandra Hontiveros, Angelie Palacios, Karen Jagape, Zara Palma, Hanna Cagas, Jasmine Villena, Suyen Sereno and Katrina Uy were indeed heartfelt.

The dance of the 18 Tulips; Mark Chang, Carlo Chan, Al Cabrera, Giorgio Escalderon, JR Go, Kalvin Talines, James Retuya, Leo Artadi, Rheinhart Robles, Jose Vicente Cabrera, Ragde Yu, Aldrich Si, Mac de la Riarte, Michael Rafols, Myko Chaves, John Roland Ganzan, Christian Yap and Nelson Chang added so much fun as they danced with the debutantes while the twin’s favorite contemporary songs were playing in the background.

The 18 Treasures; Maricel Presillas, Melfe Bautista, Maria Imelda Retirado, Tess Rosete, Patricia Ranises, Jane Sia, Joy Uy, Cheryl Wee Eng, Trisha Lim, Ivy Lim, Mercy Chang, Karla Chang, Jofrey Valendez, Katrina Velasco, Katrina Ong, Raiza Rodriguez and Elizabeth Uy, not only brought with themselves their presents, but their wisdom too, imparted to the new ladies as they enter the world of young adults.

The highlight of the debut party was when the 18 candles and 18 tulips hit the ramp and were transformed into fashion models to everyone’s cheers and delight. They donned themselves with the avant  garde collections showcased at the lobby of the clubhouse. Before the guests enjoyed the disco dancing, the debutantes gave away their tributes to their beloved parents, party favors for all the guests, including the awards for the Male and Female Best Dressed Guest of the Night.

The whole show was hosted by Davao’s prime MC, Don Gonzales and directed by Aya Bonesa. The evening was indeed a night of fun, fashion, glitz, glamour and memories in great measures.
