Having gained popularity just recently, photo opportunities are a fun and memorable way to remember everyone who came to your big day. The pictures can also double as souvenir-give-aways since two copies are printed – one for you to keep and one for your guests. Think of it as “ala-Oscars Red Carpet treatment”!

Heavy Pica-pica/Antipasto Buffet. Instead of having a full five course meal, try having a pica-pica or antipasto buffet. You can play around with more options like having a full cheese and salami platter on one end and laying out a Sushi and Sashimi selection on the other. The roasted calf can also be served. Buurrpp!

Juice Bars. After a long (and many times hot) ceremony, your guests will be in need of refreshment when they arrive at the reception. Instead of serving soda and the typical iced tea, why not give a good selection of fruit juice? It is sure to put a unique take on your drink list.

Dessert Buffet. Why stop at a dinner spread? Sweet treats make everybody happy. The dessert buffet is becoming more and more popular. Cupcake tower instead of wedding cake. Though wedding cakes are beautiful and traditional, there is nothing like a new idea to make your wedding cake more special. Because cupcakes are such a trend, having a tower of these scrumptious treats is modern and fun. It can also be a huge budget saver because it can be packed away and given as souvenirs at the end of the night. Beverly Sanz of Cake Creations makes beautiful one of these.

Serving the Cake. This may sound like one of the simplest tips, but rarely will you go to a wedding and see the wedding cake served to the guests. Though it is always hard to dig into something so beautiful, the cake is there to be enjoyed.

Games rather than the usual bouquet and garter toss. It might not be for everyone, but games can really liven up a reception. These are fun alternatives to tossing the bouquet and garter.

Presenting your bouquet instead of throwing it. This is a beautiful idea that can help you honor someone special on your wedding day. It can be handed to your mom or to your new mother in law. It is a nice gesture that will really show your gratitude.

Toasts instead of speeches. Speeches oftentimes run too long and can bore a crowd. Instead of having long speeches, opt for toasts that are short and sweet.

Special surprises. Special surprises given to the newly wedded couple always spark the entertainment. Whether it is getting your new wife’s favorite local artist to serenade her during the program or hiring your new husband’s favorite band to play a couple of sets, this is sure to bring the romance to the air and get the crowd going.

Edible souvenirs. Though this tradition isn’t quite so new, it is completely fun and enjoyable for your guests. It works especially well if you have a destination wedding because your guests won’t have to worry about making space in their suitcase for a souvenir. Chocolate truffles are a delicious example while nicely packaged Jordan almonds are a beautiful one.

Donation souvenirs. Bringing in your favorite charity to your big day adds a very personal touch. Instead of spending money on little trinkets, you get to donate money or basic necessities to the needy. It is a good way of giving back the gifts that you have been blessed with.
